License
Every plugin and theme we sell is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), the same licence WordPress itself uses. The code is free software: you can read it, change it, and use it on any site. The GPL is the licence for the code. A paid licence key is a separate thing. It gives you updates and support, and it is the reason the purchase exists.
What the licence key gives you
- Automatic updates for each site you activate, delivered in your WordPress dashboard with the changelog.
- Support for the plugin or theme from our team.
- Sites: the number of sites is set by the plan you pick: one site, five sites, or unlimited sites.
- One year from purchase. The licence renews for another year whenever you choose, or automatically if you keep the subscription running.
You can see your key, the sites it is active on, and the expiry date under Licences in your account. You can move a site slot by deactivating a site and activating another.
What the GPL allows
- Use the code on as many sites as you like under your licence key's site limit. Keep your changes.
- Modify the code for your projects, including client work and internal tools.
- Redistribute the code under the GPL, where the GPL allows it.
What happens when a licence ends
The plugin or theme keeps working exactly as it is. What stops is updates and downloads of new versions, and support. Renew under Licences to get them back. We will email you before the licence ends, and once more when it has ended.
Keys
Keep your licence key private. It is shown in full once, in the purchase email, and again only if you reissue it, which replaces the old key. A licence key does not give access to anything that the GPL already lets you do without it; it only unlocks updates and support.
